The practice

What the practice does

We help Florida businesses make decisions: how to plan, how to run the operation, how to manage cash timing, how to prepare for capital, and when a question needs an attorney. The work is practical and specific to the client's situation. We don't sell packages nobody needs, and we don't stretch our scope past what consulting can responsibly cover.

Strategic planning

Twelve-month goals broken into quarters you can actually staff, with the tradeoffs written down instead of assumed.

Operations review

Where the week actually goes: scheduling, staffing, vendor terms, and the two or three bottlenecks that decide your margin.

Cash flow timing

A working view of when money arrives against when it leaves — useful through Florida's seasonal swings, not just at year end.

Capital readiness

Organizing the numbers and the narrative a lender or investor will ask for, so the first meeting isn't a discovery session.

Law-adjacent guidance

Framing the business question and sorting the facts before an attorney takes it, so the billable hour starts on the right problem.

Reach him directly. Scoping, diagnosis, and recommendations stay with the person accountable for them.

Tristan J. Martin serves as Managing Director. He works directly with clients on scoping, diagnosis, and recommendations. The engagements stay close to the person accountable for them. That's deliberate. Owners get a direct line to the person doing the thinking, not a rotating cast of account managers.

In practice that means the first conversation is a working conversation. You describe the situation in your own words, he asks the questions an owner would ask, and you leave with a written view of what the problem is and what fixing it would take. No discovery theater, no junior relay. If the answer is that you don't need consulting help, you'll hear that too.

How we're organized

Registered in Florida, working across it

Dune Lake Consulting LLC is registered in Florida under Registration No: L23000185720, with FEI: 92-3529399. Our mailing address is 14 Walnut St, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459, USA. The practice works with clients across Florida, in person where it makes sense and remotely where it doesn't.

That mix is intentional. A Destin restaurant, a Panama City contractor, and a Pensacola professional practice have different calendars and different pressures. Sometimes that means sitting at your counter with the paperwork; sometimes it means a call at 7am before your crew shows up.

Working standards

The standards behind the work

We keep engagements confidential by default and we say what we see, including when the answer is a referral. Recommendations come with reasoning, options, and next steps.

Confidential by default

What you share in a conversation stays in the engagement. We don't publish client names, numbers, or situations.

Reasoning, not verdicts

Every recommendation arrives with the thinking behind it, the options we set aside, and what would change our answer.

Referral when it's right

Where a matter needs a licensed attorney or accountant, we name it early and hand over a clean file rather than guessing.

Clarity over comfort

If the plan has a hole, we say so in the meeting rather than in a footnote three weeks later. It's the reason owners come back.

Where consulting stops

Our view on law-adjacent work

Some owner questions sit near legal ground. We help frame the business side and organize the facts, but we don't provide legal representation or legal advice. That boundary protects clients and keeps the handoff clean. A good consultant knows when to hand a matter to an attorney, and says so early.

What that looks like in practice: we'll map the commercial question, gather the documents a lawyer will ask for, and tell you plainly which parts of the matter are outside what consulting can responsibly cover.

Why Florida specifically

Florida has its own business rhythms: seasonality, tourism, storm risk, a mix of local and state requirements. We work within that context rather than importing a generic national playbook. The advice is built for the market the client actually operates in.

Season

A coastal county and an inland one don't share a busy season. Staffing and cash plans follow your calendar, not a national average.

Weather

Storm season is a planning input, not an excuse. Reserves, continuity, and insurance timing belong in the plan before June.

Requirements

County and state rules change. We help you see which ones apply to your operation and which questions belong with a licensed professional.
